One year ago today, the wonderful and whimsical Alice in Wonderland Wedding of Sophie & Adam happened. On this very day, 365 days ago, Sophie and Adam said yes to spending the rest of their lives together. Today, 12 months ago, Sophie married her best friend (and vice versa). And I had the absolute honour and pleasure to being part on this very gorgeous and fun day and witness the entire spectacle. Since this very lovely day, I’ve grown to be quite good friends with the happy couple and as I promised to catching up on my blogging from 2015 weddings, this post couldn’t have hit the blog on any better day than the couple’s 1st Wedding Anniversary! Yay! Congratulations to the happy couple!!
Sophie & Adam’s wonderful Alice in Wonderland inspired Wedding started out at her mom’s house in Leigh-on-sea where Sophie and her three bridesmaids (including her sister, who flew in from New York) along with her mom, her dad and her brother (who also came from afar – from Australia with his wife-to-be) started to get ready for this wonderful day ahead of them. When I saw Sophie’s stunning dress and realised it was an Ian Stuart Wedding Gown I was looking high and low where to hang and showcase this gorgeous dress within the house. We found the perfect spot and after rearranging some of the furniture (thanks to the kind help of her mom and her brother) we managed to hang the dress up in the conservatory. The rest of the morning was very calm and relaxed as everybody got ready, including little Thomas.
The wedding ceremony was held in the beautiful small church of St. Michaels in Daws Heath, Thundersley. The ceremony was beautiful with readings from family and friends. Afterwards a routemaster Bus escorted all the guest to the drink reception whilst the bride & groom travelled in style in old vintage Mustangs. So cool! The afternoon drink reception was held at Prittlewell Gardens in the Prittlewell Square in Southend. We had cold drinks, gorgeous ice cream and fun games. When it was time to wander over to the actual evening reception which was held at the fun and quirky Bacchus Restaurant on Alexandra Street in Southend, the funky band The Dusty Peddlers had us walking over the short stretch in Mardi Gras style.
At Bacchus the Alice in Wonderland Wedding theme was really shining through. Look at those gorgeous details! The style also added to the wonderful charm of the Bacchus Restaurant and its already very whimsical decor. A match-made in heaven!
After wonderful (and oh so delicious) food and funny speeches the evening entertainment was about to commence. First up we had the “Great Britton Bake Off” judging. The guest had to vote for their favourite looking cake, of which the happy couple then tasted the top 3 cakes and chose their favourite! Tada! Dessert was sorted for the rest of their lives YAY! 🙂
After the cake excitement the first dance and the evening started with the wonderful band The Dusty Peddlers who certainly did not disappoint! Being a local band, the couple saw them live already multiple times before, so they simply had to have them for their big day. I was totally blown away by the band (and have seen them playing around Leigh-on-sea already a couple of times since) and I think as the images from the night show, the guests loved them too! What a fun, funky and whimsically wonderful day!
Happy 1st Anniversary to my wonderful clients, that I can now call my dear friends! Thanks again for having me. I can’t believe it has already been a year! I raise my coffee mug (as I am writing this) to you my lovely friends and to many more years to come!
With lots of love,
